Kristen Smith 2026, RN
I am recognizing Kristen for her extraordinary compassion and dedication while caring for my mother in the ICU post-surgery. At a time when our family felt frightened and helpless, she made sure my mom was not only medically cared for, but also emotionally supported the entire shift.
She spent time brushing and braiding my mom's hair when she was too weak to do it herself. Kristen offered encouragement, telling my mom repeatedly. "I'm so proud of you" and "You are making such amazing progress; keep going." Those words lifted her spirits more than any medication ever could.
Kristen also created a personal connection with us, sharing that her own mother had faced health issues as well recently.
