Kristen was nominated for the off-hours care she provided for an end-of-life patient. After being placed on comfort care, the patient told Kristen how much she loved tapioca pudding. Kristen immediately called Nutrition Services and tried to acquire the pudding for the patient but discovered that tapioca pudding is not available through the hospital.
"Instead, Kristen went to the store on her own time to get tapioca pudding for the patient before she passed," a colleague wrote in a nomination letter. "This loving care was above and beyond Kristen's duty."
Though the patient's family was unable to visit the hospital in her last hours, the patient was still able to receive comfort from Kristen's simple and kind gesture.
