I can’t imagine the loss this woman felt when she lost her mother and caretaker but I can guarantee Kristi has made this time easier. Kristi has helped this woman unprompted and unpaid.
Kristi goes above and beyond for her patients and their families. A patient of Kristi’s who passed had a daughter with cerebral palsy, whom she had taken care of full time for 50 years. When the mother died, the daughter was now left with no caretaker. Despite not being obligated, Kristi took initiative on how to help the daughter of this patient. Kristi has dedicated time every week to aid this woman by attending meetings with her, corresponding with social work and Medicaid, researching care facilities that would aid the daughter but also keep her independence. Kristi also donated money for getting this woman a device to feed herself when hers broke. The daughter values her independence which Kristi always takes into account. I can’t imagine the loss this woman felt when she lost her mother and caretaker but I can guarantee Kristi has made this time easier. Kristi has helped this woman unprompted and unpaid. Kristi takes care of her in-laws, her parents, works full time, is a grandmother, and more, but most importantly, she is extremely caring. Not many people would have continued to help this family once the patient died but Kristi is a different breed. I think as caretakers we should be as dedicated, invested, and loving as Kristi has been. Not only to this patient/family but every person she interacts with. Kristi is truly inspiring and deserves to be recognized.
