Today, Kristi worked with a 13-year-old boy in assisting him with an NG tube placement. He had an unsuccessful experience the night before and was very fearful of the pending procedure. She provided a mannequin doll so that he could see what it was like and he could practice himself. She also recommended a You-Tube demo video. When it came time for placement, she was so patient and calm with him. She let him say when to start. When he hesitated, she told him he could start to put it in himself if he felt more comfortable doing that. He did and she coached him the entire time. He placed the entire tube himself! He had such pride and confidence. She really listened to what his needs were and let him guide the process. It was fantastic, and his mom was so very appreciative too!
