One of the biggest reasons Kristi is so special to our nursing program is that she takes the time to stay current and knowledgeable on the information she is teaching.
If I could be a fraction of a nurse Professor L'Ecuyer is, I would be honored. She is a practicing Dialysis nurse and shows her passion for her specialty by integrating her knowledge and patient experiences into our pharm class. It shows that she truly cares about her patients but it also makes the information come alive for us as students. In a world where it is challenging to be a nurse, people like Prof. L'Ecuyer encourage and inspire us to keep going.
As far as a professor, she ensures that we all are engaged by planning new and fun ways to apply the material. She develops new case studies, "choose your own adventure" PowerPoints (which help us develop clinical judgment), online trivia, myth or facts games, etc. She also develops drug cards for the different classes of drugs so that she can stay up to date, she is kind enough to go through these cards with us and share them with us to help us study.
As touched on previously, one of the biggest reasons Kristi is so special to our nursing program is that she takes the time to stay current and knowledgeable on the information she is teaching. It can be so easy for professors to use previous PowerPoints (which many of our instructors use), but Kristi takes the time to inform herself so that she can give the most relevant lecture possible. She often gets a round of applause after lecturing because it is so evident that she is diligent in her work and for how engaging and fun the class is. Her effort to teach us shows me that she cares for us and truly wants to succeed.
