Kristi has been seeing my 87-year-old grandpa at the Infusion Center. He goes every few weeks to get a shot. It's not always easy to coordinate schedules so we can be with him on these days. However, this is the one appointment he says he can go to on his own. He tells us about a nurse that goes out of her way to help him. She makes sure he gets to and from his car and to the appointment without falling. She makes him smile every visit. After reading a few of these stories, I was able to see them firsthand. I was able to attend my grandfather's appointment right before his 87th birthday. While there, Kristi surprised him with a cake and candle and even sang "Happy Birthday" to him. The smile on his face, I will never forget. He told our whole family about this when we got home. My grandpa, a few days later, fell and injured his hip. While in the hospital, he would say how much he hoped to have nurses that card the way Kristi does. He continued to tell stories about her, and even through the pain, he was determined to stand and walk again. He told the doctor the date of his next shot and said he needed out by then because he didn't want Kristi to think he wasn't coming back. Kristi, thank you so much!
