I can honestly say that I have never encountered a nurse who is so consistently excellent at her craft across time.
I believe habitually going above and beyond in the form of an "unsung hero" is a greater challenge and warrants greater merit than any single heroic act on a given day or week (not to undermine the latter though because of course we appreciate those nurses as well). Kris always seems composed even on the most stressful days. Even though she is a labor and delivery and newborn nurse by training, I have witnessed her help our pediatric nurses on a number of occasions such as with IV placements or blood draws. She rolls with the punches, is reliably a team player, always good for a laugh, is concise, efficient,  and is incredible clinically (her exam on a baby is MD quality). If she's ever concerned about a patient, I know to take it seriously.

I also personally had her as a nurse when my youngest daughter was born, and it made me appreciate her even more. I had a small post-partum hemorrhage following an OP delivery, and our baby girl had to get blood glucose checks but Kris' easy-going way of handling things made everything seem like no big deal. However, as a physician, it did not go unnoticed by me that she realized what was happening and slipped out to get the post-partum hemorrhage supplies before anyone even asked for them. Along the same lines, she was able to minimize the number of times my daughter had to get heel sticks while still ensuring she had all the appropriate checks done. These are the kind of things that often go unrecognized and unappreciated, but they make such a big difference in the quality of care we provide our patients.

Despite how busy the service was when our daughter was born, my husband still talks about one of the jokes Kris cracked and how nice she was, and I know we were not getting "special treatment" - this is just who Kris is. I can honestly say that I have never encountered a nurse who is so consistently excellent at her craft across time.

From an OB perspective, Kris has demonstrated years of excellence.  She is awesome with laboring women and is so caring when taking care of antepartum patients.  She consistently has a positive attitude that is appreciated by providers and patients.  She has great clinical acumen – if she tells me something is wrong with a patient I know that I need to listen.  I think she is a true DAISY Nurse.

Kris is knowledgeable, hard-working, dependable, and excellent with patients.  She was also my postpartum nurse and was so wonderful.  She is very deserving of the DAISY Award.

Kris is an excellent nurse.

I will add another wholehearted yes! I echo everything that has been said about Kris. When she brings a concern to me, I pay attention. She is great with all of the patients, has a wonderfully calming presence, is an incredibly hard worker, and willing to do anything to help out.

I have so much respect for Kris and am always so happy to work with her, both for laboring patients as well as on the postpartum floor.  She is so caring, skilled, and personable.

Kris is by far one of the best nurses that I’ve worked with.  She’s detail-oriented, works her tail off, is incredible with patient care, and is quite frankly just a joy to be around. We are so very lucky!
