Kristi goes above and beyond to care for her patients.
While caring for a patient during his hospital stay, Kristi realized the patient would be there during his wedding anniversary. She understood his concern that he would not be able to get his wife a gift in time. Kristi, using her own time and money, offered to go out and choose a card and gift, so he would have something to give his wife when the day came.
The patient and his wife were surprised and thrilled. "Kristi certainly showed the kind of compassion and care that makes her an outstanding nurse," says the patient's wife. "Her kindness meant so much to my husband and me."
Kristi says she is honored to receive the DAISY Award. "I believe what you do for patients can affect their lives beyond when they're here," says Kristi. "It's great to be recognized for that."
Kristi would like to thank all the staff she works alongside. "It's nice to have such great teamwork around me. Coming into work knowing you're supported makes it possible to go the extra mile for a patient," she says.
