Kristian Stang, MSN, RN

Kristian ensures nurses are competent and confident by providing individualized, hands-on education whenever gaps or learning needs are identified. He routinely offers individual skills training, adapting his approach to meet each nurse where they are. A powerful example of his commitment is personally serving as the “patient” during restraint-application training so nurses can practice safely, correctly, and with confidence. He is also a visible presence during unit rounds, helping remove barriers and ensuring staff have what they need to deliver exceptional patient care. For nurses who need additional support during unit or triage orientation, Kristian provides dedicated 1:1 education that builds competence, confidence, and trust.

His ability to facilitate simulation and create engaging educational experiences is exceptional. Kristian designs creative, interactive simulations, including portraying behavioral health patients with escalating behaviors, complex trauma scenarios, and in-situ simulations that begin at the emergency department entrance. These experiences reinforce evidence-based practice and challenge nurses to think critically in real time. He also created an educational game to teach the Pediatric Assessment Triangle and across-the-room assessments, making learning memorable and practical. Additionally, he is essential in supporting the ultrasound-guided IV program, helping nurses develop and refine this advanced skill.

As a role model and mentor, Kristian fosters lifelong learning and professional growth. He leads the Advance Program and serves as a trusted “go-to” expert, guiding nurses toward higher levels of practice and development. Beyond his role within the organization, he also serves as a university clinical nursing instructor, demonstrating his commitment to the future of nursing.
