May 2022 Honoree
Kristie Kassay, BSN, RN, CEN, TCRN
I was recently able to witness what a wonderful gift Kristie is. Kristie was taking care of a patient who was experiencing a miscarriage. The pregnancy was early; however, the loss was heartbreaking and the patient was distraught. The patient really wanted some way to remember the baby. Kristie and another OB RN tirelessly worked to try and get footprints. The patient was alone and frightened and soon headed to pre-op. Kristie lovingly wiped away tears and spoke words of comfort.
She stayed until the patient was out of surgery to ensure paperwork was completed so the patient could release the remains to the funeral home. Kristie explained to me that she previously found herself taking care of patients in a similar circumstance. Perhaps she finds herself taking care of patients experiencing a loss because she is able to uniquely provide the comfort those patients need. Kristie not only provided excellent and attentive patient care, but she also provided tender and compassionate patient care.

Thank you, Kristie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
