Kristin is a skilled and dependable nurse. I have had the privilege of working alongside her for the past 14 years. As a labor and delivery operating room nurse, she steps in seamlessly to assist with patient preparation, assessments, and care without ever being asked. Her clinical knowledge is evident in everything she does, and you can always trust that her patients are receiving safe, thorough, and high-quality care!
Compassionate Care:
I want to share a story that says everything about the kind of nurse Kristin is. We were working on a scheduled case together. Kristin was the operating room nurse for the day. As I worked through my full assessment, it became clear this patient had been through a lot. When I got to her feet, she got quiet and embarrassed. She asked me not to remove her socks, and even the significant other chimed in. When I removed them to complete my assessment, I understood why. Her feet had been neglected, calloused, covered in dirt, and with noticeable odor. Kristin stepped right in without hesitation at the foot of the bed; she soaked and washed the patient's feet. She then moisturized them gently without word or judgment. Nobody asked her. It was not on a checklist. But Kristin saw a woman who needed to feel cared for, and she did it. The patient went into surgery with her dignity fully intact because of Kristin.
Exemplary Service:
Kristin consistently goes above and beyond what is required of her role. Washing a patient's feet before surgery is not a standard pre-operative task, but Kristin did not see it that way. That is how she approaches every shift and every patient. She is the nurse that teammates look to as a role model and that patients remember long after they leave.
