Kristin is such a kind and compassionate nurse. She really takes the time to help her patients and love on them, which can be difficult in the Emergency Department due to the fast pace. One day, she had a patient who was being seen for behavioral issues. The patient was acting out and being very rude to all hospital staff. Kristin remained patient and kind to her. She took the time to talk to the patient and found out the patient's water and electricity had been shut off. The patient was acting out so she could come to the hospital. Kristin got Social Work involved and allowed the patient to take a shower.
Another time, she had a patient who was in the department for a SANE exam. The girl had been a runaway since she was nine and is now 16. This girl was being forced to live with her aunt. She was angry because she couldn't understand why she had to live with someone new, when no one was willing to take her at nine. Kristin sat with this girl, hugged her, and cried with her. The girl told her over and over again how thankful she was to have her as a nurse. That she was thankful that she listened to her and didn't make her feel like her feelings were unimportant. These are just two examples of how she really gets to the root of the problem with all patients. She's a fantastic nurse and the Emergency Department and her patients are lucky to have her.
