Her patients often describe Kristin as “being great, very kind, and we need more of y’all nurses in this world.” One of several examples that come to mind is when Kristin took care of a patient whom EMS brought in without any patient belongings – no shoes, wallet, or phone. The patient was diagnosed with a GI Bleed and, on the same day, was informed he had cancer. The patient was anxious and scared and wanted to leave AMA to ensure everything at home was secured. Kristin collaborated with other members of the healthcare team to obtain clothing and a bus pass. Amid things, Kristin discovered that the patient’s home was at least a 10-minute walk from the bus stop, so she contacted the Police Department to escort this 78-year-old man to his front door. Once the patient realized his home and belongings were secured, he called Kristin to inform her that this day was one of the toughest days of his life and that he was extremely grateful for the care that Kristin gave him, and he raved about Parkland. He made sure to tell Kristin that he would return for treatment.
 
Kristin’s peers describe her as a rockstar with a mission to always deliver the best nursing care to her patients. Just last week, her patient had been refusing everything, and Kristin worked her charm to get this patient to cooperate. The patient allowed her to place him in a new bed, complete the extensive wound care, bed bath, and then MRI.
