I want to recognize Kristin Funk for her extraordinary teamwork, clinical skill, and calm leadership during an unexpected and high-stakes emergency delivery. In September of 2025, Medic 32 alerted our team that a patient in active labor was en route, experiencing contractions every three minutes. Upon arrival, the baby was crowning, and the situation escalated rapidly.
Without hesitation, Kristin took swift action and successfully delivered the baby in the ED resuscitation room. Kristin demonstrated exceptional clinical judgment and composure under pressure. She immediately initiated vital steps, including suctioning the newborn and skillfully removing the umbilical cord from around the baby's neck.
Her calm and focused demeanor helped maintain a sense of control and reassurance for both the staff and the mother during this intense moment. This event highlights not only her clinical expertise but also her ability to lead with confidence and compassion in unpredictable situations.
