Kristin sat beside my mom and she sang to her while she rubbed her hair and face. She talked with her and reassured her that we would all be okay and that she wouldn’t leave her side.
My mother was a patient at BSW and during her stay, we came in contact with numerous nurses, doctors, aides and administrators, but one nurse in particular went above and beyond to assist our family. On Sunday, my mom was moved from the 6th floor down to ICU. When we arrived, we met Kristin Parsons, and all of our lives were never the same. Kristin welcomed my mom and our family to her care, and I can assure you that I have never seen any one nurse more compassionate and caring than Kristin. During the three days that we had the pleasure of being in Kristin’s care, she was thorough, patient, and compassionate with my mom and all of us.
The day before my mom passed, she was having difficulty resting and relaxing as the end of her life neared. Kristin sat beside my mom and she sang to her while she rubbed her hair and face. She talked with her and reassured her that we would all be okay and that she wouldn’t leave her side. Kristin put herself into our shoes, and she comforted my mom like no nurse I have ever seen before. A true Angel on Earth for our family.
When Kristin left at 7 pm on Tuesday evening, she knew that we would most likely not see each other again as she didn’t work again until Sunday. She individually hugged each one of our family members in the room and the waiting room and thanked us for being able to care for our mother. SHE THANKED US! What a complete blessing to us, but more importantly, to Baylor Scott & White. Your hospital is a better place because of Kristin, and I can assure you that she is serving her patients and their families with compassionate care and the utmost respect.
