Kristin establishes a connection with all of her patients beginning with education, during training and on therapy, and through any transitions. She always seeks to understand how she can best support the patient and how they can be successful on home therapy.

Attending clinic at a facility, I walked into the clinic and saw Kristin and her patient standing together, both with tears in their eyes. They were having a quiet conversation at the end of his clinic visit and she hugged him goodbye. I asked her about the situation and she shared that he was having his PDC removed due to fungal peritonitis. She told me his story, how he was reluctant to begin dialysis at his age, and how PD helped him continue being active in his 70s as he worked two jobs. Kristin supported him on PD for more than three years. She coordinated his transition to ICHD and advocated for him to get treatment times/days to support his well-being and allow him to continue doing what he loves.
