February 2021 Honoree
kristin wagner 2021, BSN, RN, CCRN
In November, I was a patient for Cardiac Catheterization at the Charles George VA Hospital. Approximately 6 years ago, I had a bad experience with the same procedure so I was not in a good mental state. Kristin was one of two nurses preparing me for this procedure. She was constantly talking to me with reassuring comments. During the procedure, it was determined that I would need heart surgery. I was noticeably shaken by this. When I was being prepared for transport, once again Kristin began talking to me and comforting me with her comments. The last thing as I was being wheeled away she took my hand in both of hers and made a couple of comments that calmed me down. The way she conducted herself just gave me a calm that I had not known before.
In my 75 years, I have met and been in contact with many, many medical persons, and without question, none have treated me with the level of compassion and respect that Kristin did that day. I will never forget her.

Thank you, Kristin, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
