February 2025 Honoree
Kristina Gastelum, ADN, PCCN, RN III
My dad was admitted and was on life support the same night. He was eventually declared brain dead and officially passed a few days later. He donated his organs, so he was on life support. I was in and out of the hospital everyday til his honor walk. It was the hardest thing I ever had to deal with in my life. But I remember going in the elevator different days thinking, "I hope Kristina is his nurse today." She was by far one of the nicest nurses I have ever dealt with. She would always explain what she was doing to me and answer any questions I had. She even called the mortuary for me so I could have one less thing to deal with. We sat for a few minutes talking about my dad and showing her photos of him. It was nice that someone cared and took the time to get to him besides him being in that room. Kristina's not just a great nurse, she's a great person.
Thank you, Kristina, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
