My dad was admitted to Tennova. It came as a surprise when the doctor during his visit suggested this was the best course of action. He does not like hospitals or needles. They were not able to start an IV that evening after much convincing and reasoning. But when I returned the next morning, an amazing and very caring, and astute nurse noticed my dad's confusion, due to dementia and nervousness masked by shortness and negativity. She saw that he was softening with time and extra attention. She showed such personal interest in him that spanned the rest of her shift Wednesday and into the next 7am shift on Thursday when she was the one that got to remove the IV and wheel him to the car to go home. She made a huge difference in his outlook and ongoing encouragement to continue his stay. Her actions helped him get his much needed antibiotics and other medicines that he needed. She reassured him for all 12 hours of her shift that first day and he looked forward to her the next morning as well. Our hearts go out to her and all the nurses that give above and beyond. on behalf of families everywhere, thank you, Nurses.
