She is such a beautiful soul, and it was exactly what I needed to be surrounded by when dealing with this double tragedy we all faced.
I am not sure that there are words that will convey how strongly I feel about the expertise, care, professionalism, and actual love our family felt from Kristina Q. My father had died a mere 3.5 weeks earlier when my 89-year-old mother began to fail, and was taken to the ER at Jefferson Hospital, Washington Township. My mother was admitted to Silvestri 5 that evening, and almost immediately was put on comfort care (which was a complete shock to all of us).

While all the nurses I encountered on this ward were excellent, we were blessed that we had Kristina Q for two twelve-hour shifts in a row.   I have never felt such true love and compassion from a complete stranger.  While we struggled to understand what was happening with my mother, Kristina was by our side, explaining, offering advice, and showing such compassion that I can’t even describe. Not only did she take care of my mother, but she literally took care of all of us.

There was nothing she couldn’t do for us to help ease our pain. Even knowing she had a full patient load, she ALWAYS made sure we had what we needed and was there for us. I truly felt she must have had 10 years’ experience as a nurse, so when she said only 3.5 years, I was shocked. Both my parents were 89 when they passed, so as imagined, we have had a lot of experience with nurses and hospitals. I had such complete faith and trust in every decision, words of advice and recommendation Kristina offered.

My mother passed at the end of Kristina’s shift after 2 days, yet Kristina waited first for my husband to arrive back from dinner, then she again waited for me to arrive from home later.  She had to be exhausted after such a long, busy shift, yet there she was, waiting to just talk and console me. She is such a beautiful soul, and it was exactly what I needed to be surrounded by when dealing with this double tragedy we all faced. I begged her never to leave nursing because she truly has a calling and the world needs nurses like Kristina! I truly can’t think of a more deserving person for this award than Kristina.
