I had the pleasure of working with Kristina. The first night, she and I both were up for any new admission, giving one of us six patients. With my load and acuity of the patients, however, she offered to take the sixth patient, which was a great help.
I hadtwo patients with restraints in place due to delirium tremens, one patientwho was confused and sometimes belligerent, another with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, and a new admission on the way. There was also an opening for a sixth patient eventually.
Again, Kristina offered to help, taking one of the patients with DTs.When the decision was made to move another patient to the unit, she really stepped up to the plate. She made sure my new patient was admitted, answered any questions the family had, and addressed the needs of all other patients during this time, while I spoke to the physician and family members of the patient being transferred to the unit. She also helped with another nurse's patients, assisting with medication administration, and getting a PCA (med pump) going.
I am impressed with her humility, skills, selfless attitude, and approach towards all patients on the floor, not just her own. I cannot imagine working with another nurse those two nights; she was just exceptional. Hands down, Kristina is the best nurse ever!
