Kristine Blissitt is an exceptional nurse. She is kind and compassionate, and extremely clinically skillful. She is a wealth of knowledge and is always willing to help her teammates. She often goes above and beyond for her patients and teammates. I'd like to highlight one particular instance.
Kris' day started like the rest of ours- in a huddle, with her team, ready to take on another day of ED madness. Kris was handed off a patient who had been experiencing stroke-like symptoms. Come to find out, this patient was one of "us"- a fellow RN- but not from our community. This person was a travel RN, away from their homebase finishing an assignment. Kris took the time to not only speak with the patient's spouse via telephone (who was over 1,000 miles away) and give thorough updates, but also helped set up the patient's portal so that the spouse could get "real-time" results as they traveled to meet their person at the hospital, where they were transferred to. Kris continued to update the patient's spouse, even after the patient had departed for their next facility.
Kris's compassion and kindness are unparalleled. She knew how concerned the spouse would be, as any of us would be. She treated this patient and their spouse the way any of us would want to be cared for. Not only did she take great care of her patient, but she also cared for their spouse.
Kris truly cares about her patients and making a difference to them. She is a spectacular nurse, teammate, and friend. Her ED family is lucky to have her, but her patients are truly the luckiest.
