Kristine L Humphrey, LPN
Kristine is wherever you need her to be whenever you need her there. Recently, she was walking out of building 3 on her lunch break when she heard a Veteran say he felt like his blood sugar was low. The Veteran walked into the restroom, but Kristine waited on him. When the Veteran finished, he told her that he was going to the pizza shop because he felt like his blood sugar was low. The pizza shop was closed so Kristine got him a wheelchair and took him to the cafeteria.
On the way, he began having symptoms of severe hypoglycemia, so she rushed him in there, got him juice and waited for the emergency response team to arrive. In Primary Care, the staff awaits a daily email every morning to see the assignments. Kristine arrives and does not await the email before checking in the first Veteran that has arrived, no matter whose panel the Veteran may be on. Anytime she is available, she makes it known to her coworkers that she is ready to help us any way we need. She is more often than not the first to jump on nursing visits when they arrive.
Kristine demonstrates ICARE values, not only to every Veteran she experiences, but also to her co-works. If you get the chance to experience Kristine, don’t pass it up! She makes Primary Care enjoyable for Veterans and employees alike!
