Kris spent as much time as my husband needed those first nights, in his room, holding his hand, talking to and calming him.
Kris DeGeest, RN in the ICU unit at Monument Health was a lifeline to both my husband and our family as well. After many days in the hospital, my husband was transferred to Kris’ unit. Within an hour or so of being transferred to Kris’ area, my husband had more major issues. We were told to say our goodbyes and that if he did survive the next two days, there was a good chance he would never be fully recovered or the same man. We understand the responsibility of healthcare workers, needing to be honest with patients and families, and are very appreciative of that, from those that were with my husband that day. Kris came in for his night shift and gave us some much-needed hope. I was terrified to leave my husband’s side that night, but the calm positivity from Kris got me out of the hospital and home to pray. Kris was always willing to answer my questions, explain whatever I didn't understand, and most importantly, provide my husband with the best care possible, because of his knowledge and dedication to his patient. After all my husband had been through, and for several days while going through the recovery process, my husband was unable to close his eyes for fear of not waking up, again. Kris spent as much time as my husband needed those first nights, in his room, holding his hand, talking to and calming him. My family will never find a way to thank Kris enough for all he did for us. He is an expert in his field, a truly giving human being, who deserves recognition for the excellent care he provides. My husband has just been released from home care and is ready to gradually get back to work and to living his best life. Thank you, Kristopher DeGeest!
