A patient was emergently transferred to the ICU in respiratory distress, and a Code Blue was initiated immediately upon admission. Kristy immediately stepped into the roles of both team leader and recorder, guiding the code with her exceptional ACLS expertise.
Her calm presence and meticulous adherence to the ACLS algorithm were instrumental in achieving a return of spontaneous circulation during what became a prolonged and challenging code event. Throughout the process, Kristy demonstrated remarkable compassion and sensitivity, keeping the patient’s spouse and family well-informed and supported.
She played a pivotal role in facilitating the family’s decision to withdraw advanced life support, recognizing the futility of further intervention and prioritizing the family's wishes to prevent additional suffering. Kristy's thorough and accurate recording of the code events resulted in detailed documentation that greatly simplified the charting process.
