I could tell by the look in her eyes, that she WAS going to do everything she could to help me, and she did.
My son is a trauma patient. He had been returned to his room from PACU, just after change of shift, We had met our night shift nurse the previous night, and as soon as I saw her, I decided I was going to stay the night. As a nurse myself I did not have a lot of confidence in our assigned night shift nurse, and she told us at 9pm that we were going to be getting a new nurse at 11pm & she would be floating to another unit. Kristy was our new nurse, She worked very diligently all night to get my son’s pain under control. She was confident and competent, so much so in my eyes that I was able to catch some sleep – finally. Kristy took great care of my son I saw her providing nursing care that I had not witness any of his other nurses providing (turning, comfort care, foley care, etc). Kristy is a great nurse and a valuable asset to your team. Thanks, Kristy.

As the result of a motorcycle accident, I was on my 3rd day in ICU. I had just been returned to my room, having endured 8 hours of surgery to repair my ribs, clavicle, & humerus, & I was told at 9pm that I would be getting a new nurse at 11pm. I was terrified not knowing who was going to come through the door, As my pain was escalating rapidly, and it was getting more and more difficult to breathe, Kristy came in to my room, and she listened to me. She never once said, “We are doing everything we can to help you.” Instead, when I told Kristy my pain was getting exponentially worse, she believed me. I could tell by the look in her eyes, that she WAS going to do everything she could to help me, and she did. At around 1am, she got my pain management plan adjusted. She worked all night to get my pain under control, making sure to bring my meds in as soon as they were due, even minutes before her shift was over. Above and beyond this, Kristy made sure I was taken care of as a whole person, not just treating my pain. I couldn't have wished for someone to take better care of me than Kristy did. Thank you.
