Kristy is known for being a very strong patient care advocate. In her role as a bedside ICU RN, as well as in the role of a Rapid Response Nurse, the patient is always the driver for her actions.
Being recognized by another department is reflective of just how patient focused Kristy is. She didn't let traditional role/department boundaries stand in the way of providing the best patient centered care.
One night, while functioning as the Rapid Response Nurse, the Cath Lab on-call team was in the middle of dealing with an emergent MI situation when a patient in the CICU began to actively have an MI also needing to go to the Cath Lab. Kristy stepped right in and was able to provide expert care for the patient, while waiting for the second team to arrive, and then assisted with the care of this very young and sick patient. Because of Kristy's actions, that night, both patients were able to receive the complex care required resulting in positive outcomes.
"Thank you, Kristy, the story tells it all about your expertise when being thrown into a very difficult situation" - The Cath Lab Team
