I made it about 50 yards from my office when I misstepped off the curb and twisted my ankle. I realized I was in too much pain to try to shake it off. After a quick assessment from our rapid response team, I opted to be seen by Occupational Health. Upon check-in, I was greeted by Krystal Shenk, NP, who would ultimately impress me with her remarkable compassion and patient-first mentality. She took it upon herself to go above and beyond, personally wheeling me from the East Building to the Emergency Department, to the Physicians Office Building, back to the East Building, and finally to my car in Lot 7. I was impressed by her willingness to undertake all of these tasks on her own. I did not think my sprained ankle would turn into this experience, but I was grateful to have been a patient of Krystal’s. I don’t wish for any of us to visit Occupational Health, but if the situation arises, I know that everyone is in good hands with Krystal.
