Krysten Fiorani, RN II
I am honored to recognize Krysten, a labor and delivery nurse, for the extraordinary care she provided during the birth of my daughter.
From the very beginning, Krysten stood out for her thoroughness, thoughtfulness, and genuine compassion. She took the time not only to explain each step of the labor and delivery process, but also to share her own experiences in a way that made me feel more confident, understood, and less alone. Her ability to anticipate my needs, often before I could even express them, was remarkable and deeply reassuring during such an intense and vulnerable time.
Krysten went above and beyond to help ease my anxieties about delivery. She created opportunities for me to practice pushing and to better understand aspects of the process that were causing me fear. Her calm presence and encouragement gave me a sense of control and confidence that I truly needed.
When my delivery took a sudden and serious turn due to severe complications—including a retained placenta, hemorrhage, and the need for an emergency D&C—Krysten’s care became even more extraordinary. In a moment that could have been overwhelming and frightening, she remained a steady, compassionate presence for not just me, but also for my baby and my delivery partner.
She ensured that my daughter was cared for with the utmost attention, while also making sure I clearly understood what was happening every step of the way. She kept my support person informed and reassured, helping to bring calm to a very stressful situation. Her ability to care for all of us simultaneously, with empathy and professionalism, made an incredible difference in our experience.
It feels especially meaningful to nominate Krysten for the DAISY Award, given that our daughter shares the same name, a reminder of the compassion, strength, and exceptional care that defined her birth experience. Krysten truly went above and beyond to ensure the best possible outcome for our family.
Her clinical excellence, combined with her deep compassion and emotional support, exemplifies everything the DAISY Award stands for. I will never forget the impact she had on one of the most important days of my life, and I am so grateful for her care.
