Without Nurse Herring's diligence to advocate for her patient, this mother could have been separated from her new infant.
Nurse Krystle Herring recently had a patient deliver a baby via c-section. Once the baby had been safely delivered, her drug panel came back as positive for various substances. The staff notified Nurse Herring who asked that she be given some time to research this outcome as the screening took place after the mother had been given medication for the pending delivery. The mother was questioned and adamantly denied using any substances. Nurse Herring told the patient that she had asked for time and would still be looking into the situation. Ultimately, Nurse Herring was correct and the medication caused the outcome of the panel. Without Nurse Herring's diligence to advocate for her patient, this mother could have been separated from her new infant. However all was well thanks to Nurse Herring's expertise and attention to detail.
