On the pediatric unit we cared for a patient who was here for one month with extensive foot ulcers. The patient was a sixteen year old girl with spina bifida. Krystle was one of her primary nurses. Krystle developed a great relationship with the patient which I think helped her tolerate the long stay with us. Krystle discovered that the patient did not have enough money to buy essential hygiene products. Krystle talked to our department leader and received money from a patient needs account. Krystal then bought the patient feminine products, shampoo, deodorant, a toothbrush, toothpaste, socks, underwear, and a new sweatshirt. The patient was extremely grateful. Krystal also purchased a movie from her own funds so she had something to watch during her stay.
