My mom was a very sick septic patient of hers. I was called to come back to the hospital because my mom was confused, pulled out her IV lines, foley catheter, took herself off the heart monitor and blood pressure cuff, stripped, and was refusing to take her meds or do anything she was asked to do. I don’t know that others would have handled this situation quite as well as Krystye. When I got back, Krystye was calmly sitting in the doorway of the room keeping an eye on Mama so she wouldn’t do anything to hurt herself but she was not trying to ask my mom to do anything because she didn’t want to make the situation worse. I talked to my mom and got her calmed down and then little by little Krystye got her to do what was needed. Her caring, compassionate heart just shines through. She treated my mom like she was her mom! Some people would have been frazzled after everything that had happened but not her. You would have thought my mom was in a spa with the bath and attentiveness that she gave. I have a very high bar to reach when someone renders care and she not only met it but exceeded it! She is a DAISY Nurse; she’s not just there for a paycheck, she is knowledgeable, attentive, caring, compassionate, and dedicated! My mom was her patient on IMCU.
