From the beginning, Kay demonstrated exceptional care toward my daughter and treated her like her own.
My daughter J has a TBI and remains unconscious as a result of a car accident. First, I would like to commend the entire nursing staff on the Pavilion 7th floor for the extraordinary care they have provided for my daughter. She’s been at Cooper for over twenty weeks now, and for her not to have a bed sore is a testimony to the kind of special care the staff has provided. Nurse Kay was my daughter’s first nurse in the Pavilion. From the beginning, Kay demonstrated exceptional care toward my daughter and treated her like her own.
As she lay there unconscious and motionless, Kay made sure she was clean, turned her every couple of hours religiously, medicated and fed her on schedule, cleaned her trach, talked to her, and gave her encouraging words, among other things. She also offered words of comfort and reassurance to me and my husband. If she was the nurse assigned to J, I knew she would be cared for very well. Even when Kay is not the assigned nurse, she would stop by in her free time just to say hi to us and make sure J was doing well. Because Kay has gone above and beyond our expectations for our nurse, we nominate her for the DAISY Award! We thank Kay from the bottom of our hearts.
