Kurtis has been through one of the toughest times in his life at KUMC and he still powered through his hardships to finish school, become a nurse, and take care of others. He has the sweetest heart and genuinely cares for the people around him. He is a great friend that knows when something is wrong even before you tell him. Not only is he beyond brilliant but he truly works for the grades he receives, spending countless hours at the HEB studying not just for tests but for the safety of his future patients. He is actively involved in our school programs like serving on the executive board of AUSN where he is currently spending his time planning our senior banquet. On top of all of this, Kurtis is choosing to work at the Veterans Association to give back to those who have served our country and need it most. He has left an impact not only on KU SON but also his classmates, patients, and friends. Seeing what Kurtis has overcome and accomplished in nursing school makes me want to be a better person and nurse.
