Kyanna Kirk, RN

I am nominating Kyanna Kirk for the DAISY Award because of the exceptional care she provided to my daughter during our visit to the emergency room earlier this week. Kyanna's kindness, empathy, and professionalism truly stood out during a stressful time for my daughter and me. My daughter was understandably tired and ill when we arrived, and Kyanna immediately put her at ease. She took the time to listen to my daughter's concerns and made her feel heard, which helped reduce some of her anxiety. Kyanna showed so much compassion throughout the entire experience, not only explaining everything to us in a way we could understand but also taking the extra step to comfort my daughter with gentle words and reassurance. My daughter needed an IV inserted to receive fluids from being dehydrated. She had already had blood drawn and an IV due to a CT earlier in the day. She was scared to get the IV again as it was painful last time. Kyanna did a wonderful job of being patient with my daughter and talking her through everything she was doing. Kyanna gave her a pillow and a warm blanket to try to relax her while she received the fluids. What were normal job duties for Kyanna were exceptional care for my daughter. It wasn’t just her clinical skills that impressed us, but her ability to connect with my daughter on a personal level. She didn’t rush through the process, and I could see how much she cared about my daughter's well-being. Kyanna’s warmth and attention made a stressful situation so much more manageable for our family. My daughter made the comment that she really liked Kyanna as a nurse because she was really kind to talk to. For these reasons, I believe Kyanna Kirk deserves the DAISY Award for her outstanding care and the positive impact she made during our visit.
