Kyla Blinzler, RN
A Cox Monett ER pediatric patient with status epilepticus was being transferred to Kansas City. Staff overheard the grandmother ask the grandfather to bring her clothes for multiple days, as she was the guardian and would have to go with the child.
Grandma said that she did not have any type of bag to put clothes in and told Grandpa to just put it in a trash bag. Grandpa showed up with a black trash bag full of extra clothes, and the staff were all heartbroken.
Kyla overheard the conversation and looked in multiple places for a large bag, but was only able to find small bags. Kyla went to the gift shop and bought Grandma a large Myra Bag, big enough to hold all of her belongings and the child's. Little did we know that the flight crew informed staff that Grandma could only bring one bag on the fixed-wing airplane during transport.
Grandma was so thankful for the kindness Kyla offered; her eyes lit up as she accepted the bag. Kyla is an amazing human who went above and beyond for this grandmother during a difficult time.
