I’ll never forget how she made me feel — supported, cared for, and seen. Kyla was such an important part of my birth story, and I’m so thankful for her.
I’m nominating Kyla for the DAISY Award because I really don’t know how I could've gotten through the delivery of my first child without her care. From the moment I met her, I could tell she genuinely cared — not just about doing her job, but about me as a person. This was evident from the moment she introduced herself—almost instantly, my water broke, and without missing a beat, she calmly guided me through exactly what to do.
During the first half of my labor, I was in so much pain. I felt overwhelmed, scared, and honestly a little lost. Throughout her shift, Kyla helped me find positions that made the pain more bearable. It wasn’t just about physical comfort — the way she spoke to me, reassured me, stayed by my side, and joked around with me made me feel safe.
Throughout the entire process, she was always there. Any time there was even a small concern about my health or the baby’s, she was quick to act, but never made me panic. She explained everything, listened to my worries, and always made sure I understood what was happening. Kyla treated me with so much respect and compassion, and somehow made one of the hardest experiences of my life feel manageable and even comedic at times.
What really stayed with me was what she did the next day. Even after her shift was over, she took the time to stop by my postpartum room just to check on me. That meant the world. She didn’t have to do that — but she did, because that’s just the kind of nurse and person she is.
I’ll never forget how she made me feel — supported, cared for, and seen. Kyla was such an important part of my birth story, and I’m so thankful for her.
