May 2026 Honoree
Kyle A Smith, BSN
Kyle Smith embodies the heart of AdventHealth’s mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ through his leadership, compassion, and commitment to helping both patients and team members feel whole in body, mind, and spirit.
Throughout his decade of service, Kyle has shown that leadership in nursing is not only about managing operations but about inspiring people. His calm presence, deep clinical knowledge, and collaborative spirit have built trust among teams across critical areas including ICU, ED, telemetry, and infusion services.
Kyle makes complex systems work more smoothly so that nurses can focus on what matters most, caring for patients. He’s led the development of several new programs that directly improve access to care and patient experience, including inpatient dialysis, tele-psychiatry, and CCTA nursing. Each of these initiatives reflects his ability to see a need, bring people together, and create solutions that serve both patients and caregivers.
During the EPIC go-live, Kyle guided teams across multiple states through one of the most challenging transitions in recent memory. He led with composure, clarity, and empathy, ensuring every nurse and department leader felt supported and equipped to deliver safe, seamless care.
What truly sets Kyle apart is his servant leadership. He is consistently visible, approachable, and invested in his team’s growth. He listens first, leads with humility, and never loses sight of the human side of health care. Under his leadership, team member engagement has risen, collaboration has strengthened, and patient outcomes have improved.
Kyle’s leadership reminds us that excellence is not measured only in programs launched or metrics achieved, but in the trust, hope, and healing that flourish under his guidance. His work exemplifies what it means to be a DAISY Nurse Leader, someone who uplifts others, makes care better, and helps every person he encounters feel whole.
