Her ray of light kept on shining to help get us through one of the most challenging hurdles in our lives.
I want to preface this by saying that I work for a hospital organization and fully understand the honor it is to be nominated for this award. On Tuesday, my husband had robotic knee replacement surgery and spent the night in Tampa General. Something happened Thursday evening, and his health progressively declined. I tried to convince him to go to the ER in Celebration on Saturday and finally Sunday morning he agreed. After spending the day in the ER, we finally got to a room, he was comfortable, and I went home to watch the last quarter of the Super Bowl. The next morning, I came in and met Kylee his nurse. What a positive ball of energy. She was so young, yet so knowledgeable, caring, and professional. We did not know what we were facing. We were scared, we were crying at times, we were waiting, and waiting for testing, and she knew our frustration and always made calls to make sure we weren’t forgotten about. When my husband was waiting for his cardiac Cath he was also supposed to get an echo. The tech came to do the echo, and the nurse said not now he was going to get taken back for the procedure. We waited over 45 mins to get taken back. When I got back to the floor and told Kylee this, she immediately got on the phone and demanded that the echo be done before he left cardiology. It was done. When he came back from cardiology, she did not like the way his IV looked, so she fixed it. We were so fortunate to have her for two days. She is the epitome of AdventHealth’s mission. In this day and age, where it is often more challenging to be a healthcare worker, her ray of light kept on shining to help get us through one of the most challenging hurdles in our lives. If Kylee receives this award, we would be honored to be the ones to hand it to her, give her a hug, and thank her from the bottom of our hearts."
