She made me feel supported emotionally, as she shared her experience with c-sections and her knowledge.
My partner and I decided to have an elective C-section due to fetal macrosomia. As a first-time parent and someone who has never loved the idea of surgery, I was nervous about the procedure and especially the recovery. Our big baby was born, and after a blood transfusion for me, we were moved to postpartum care, where we met the wonderful Kyleigh. She braved through a storm all three days we were there. She took one for the team of nurses by coming in, but also for us patients who needed her. She went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and to answer all of our questions, even the silly ones. She made me feel supported emotionally, as she shared her experience with c-sections and her knowledge. She was there in an instant every time we called, which wasn't often with her because she truly cared for us and checked up on us often. We never felt like an inconvenience. She brought me ice chips and ginger ale without asking because she knew I loved them. She made sure to keep me informed on what drugs/vitamins I was and should be taking. She made sure I was comfortable and up to date with my medication when I wasn't. Kyleigh always came in with a smile and positivity, which is really needed and appreciated when you are in pain and in the newborn stage. When I walked around and did laps, she always gave me words of affirmation and cheered me on! Her attention to detail was amazing. When leaving the hospital, it was bittersweet as she made me feel as though we were friends by the end. She made sure our baby and we were safe and hugged us goodbye. I will forever hope that every woman who has to have a C-section at Bradley Medical Center gets to have Kyleigh as their nurse. She truly deserved this award, as she has gone above and beyond in every way in her position. She is a super nurse!
