What I will never forget, though, is how she cared for us as a family. After my father passed, I was overwhelmed with guilt for not being in the room when he took his final breath. She made a point to find me and said some words I will never forget.

She told me that sometimes, people wait until their loved ones step out because they don’t want them to see their passing. That perhaps, as my dad, he didn’t want me to carry that memory. Her words brought me comfort that I didn’t even know I needed. In that moment, she wasn’t just a nurse; she was a healer of hearts.
