Kylie’s actions, though simple on the surface, reflect the essence of nursing at its very best.
I am honored to nominate Kylie Key for the DAISY Award in recognition of the exceptional, compassionate care she consistently provides in the Braselton ICU. While Kylie’s clinical excellence is evident in all she does, on this particular day, I witnessed something truly special—an act of kindness that perfectly embodied the spirit of the DAISY Award and the NGHS core values, especially Respectful Compassion and A Passion for Excellence.
While caring for one of her patients, Kylie noticed that the patient had not had her hair washed in some time. Rather than overlook this small but deeply human need, Kylie gently told the patient they would be having a “spa day.” She then carefully and lovingly washed the patient’s hair, taking the time to ensure her comfort while engaging her in warm, meaningful conversation. This moment wasn’t about checking off a task or clinical necessity—it was about dignity, empathy, and human connection. Kylie turned an ordinary interaction into something deeply personal and healing. The patient’s entire demeanor changed; you could see the sense of comfort, confidence, and gratitude in her eyes. It reminded everyone in the room that healing isn’t just physical—it’s emotional and spiritual, too.
Kylie’s actions, though simple on the surface, reflect the essence of nursing at its very best. She brought light to someone’s day during what was likely a difficult time, and she did it without prompting or praise—just genuine compassion. In all she does, Kylie demonstrates what it truly means to go above and beyond “In All We Do”. Her care touches lives in a lasting way.
