In Customer Service, I live by, "A customer doesn't care what you know until they know that you care." The same applies to nursing. Kylie leans into caring and shows this in ways big and small.

Kylie listens carefully and responds appropriately. She is timely. She acts with empathy. She explains what she was doing and why. She acts with an appropriate sense of urgency. She is confident in her role. She is pleasant and friendly but shows maturity with her discretion.

During my stay, Kylie would bring me fresh water. This seems like a small thing, but I was thirsty, and she did this without my asking. Kylie informed me that I was in A-FIB, but also explained how she was monitoring it. She recognized my anxiety and talked with me. My anxiety improved.

One evening, near the end of her shift, my heart rate spiked and would not come back down. She demonstrated critical thinking and acted with a sense of urgency by engaging the emergency response team. During the EKG, my breast was exposed. Kylie plucked a Kleenex from my box and covered my breast. Although it was time for the shift change, Kylie was committed to my care and said she would not leave until I was stable. I stabilized shortly after a new RX was administered. Her quick and decisive action mitigated what could have been a more complicated outcome.

Kylie's active engagement and kindness helped relieve my anxiety because I knew she was giving me the best care. I am pleased to recognize Kylie compassion as she is extraordinary!

Thank you, Kylie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
