Kyoung has been a dedicated member of the NICU team for 10 years. She is an active participant on her Unit Council and has helped to plan events such as the NICU Preemie Party. She cares deeply about our tiniest patients and their families and took it upon herself to develop an introductory booklet for NICU parents. The booklet provides a comprehensive overview of what moms and dads can expect in the NICU. It includes answers to the most commonly asked questions, an explanation of equipment, an introduction to the team members and their caregiver roles, and a summary of the parents' role as a part of their baby's health care team. Kyoung designed the booklet as a valuable supplement to the personal relationships that she and the other nurses establish with families.

Kyoung is consistent in the care she provides; and patient safety and satisfaction are at the top of her list. She has been recognized numerous times in patient satisfaction surveys and at Superstar events. She constantly offers her support to the unit and assumes responsibilities wherever and whenever needed. She consistently pursues her own professional development and is currently in the process of obtaining her national certification as a Neonatal Nurse.

According to NICU Assistant Unit Manager Emma Castillo, "Kyoung brings new meaning to patient experience and makes parents and visitors not only feel comfortable, but also assured that their sick baby is well cared for."
