Today Kyra went above and beyond by recognizing a patient's birthday, which was completely unexpected from him. She went to the gift shop and personally bought him a birthday balloon and wished him a happy birthday and ensured him his family was coming to visit (she had talked to them prior). He was going to surgery today and is having an especially hard time with being in the hospital, so I could see in his face this brightened his day. Someone with every reason to be depressed and down, was smiling on his way to pre-op. He was very thankful. Kyra is an excellent example of showing compassion for her patients.
