Our mom had been living fairly independently in a facility with others at her age, she was 85 when she experienced a stroke. The stroke left her unable to speak and unable to use her right side.
Kyra showed true compassion for mom, took the time to explain every medication before administering it, to explain what was to be next before making a move. For example, "I am going to help you to turn so that you are comfortable". Her words to our mom and to us as her children were also compassionate and professional.
It was evident by observing her, that Kyra is an expert at her job and that she also has a passion for helping patients to recover. Mom was at the hospital for 2 weeks; I was only able to be there for 5 days. Kyra was mom's nurse the majority of the time and we felt comfortable knowing she was giving our mom the best possible care while also encouraging mom to work to recover.
Kyra was not mom's only nurse during this time. However, she stood out above others as one who had mom's best interest at heart, who wanted mom to have the right amount of attention, who put mom first, and wanted to ensure mom's consistent comfort and care.
We greatly appreciate Kyra!
