Our patient who comes for chemo every 2 weeks isn’t very wealthy and doesn’t have much support but is very thankful for every small gesture. He stated he was craving oatmeal raisin cookies because they are his favorite, and we only carry chocolate chip cookies. Unfortunately, he cannot go out and get them due to his condition. So, as he said, “I just wish I could have an oatmeal raisin cookie.” Laarni Koch turned to me and said, "I just feel like I have to bake him some." Laarni loves to bake, and she expressed that since it was the Holidays, she just felt something and wanted to do that for him. So she baked him 4 large oatmeal raisin cookies and brought them to him on his next treatment day. I wish you could’ve seen the smile on his face. He was ecstatic, happy, surprised, and so, so thankful. His exact words were, “I cannot believe you did this for me. You will never know how happy this makes me. You guys are the best people.” Laarni is a kind soul who will help anyone in need. Thank you, Laarni, for the gesture that changed his perception of kindness and for being so selfless.
