I was admitted to the hospital. Due to covid rules, I was already scared that my support person AND others wouldn't be allowed in the room at the same time, so I came in a bit nervous. I was also called into the unit early and knew it was going to be a long, sleepless night for everyone. Shortly after I arrived, Lindsay came in and introduced herself as the midwife who was on for the night. She had the sweetest and kindest disposition, which was immediately noted and appreciated. Because there was concern weeks prior, I had to have a special procedure. I asked if we could check to make sure that everything was now ok, and she did this immediately. It was slow progress until Marina, my primary nurse, gave me additional medicine at 3 am. At 430 am things started moving and the pain became really intense. Marina was there with me in my room, helping me get through the pain, cleaning me up, and showing my husband how he could help me through this. She encouraged me to get out of the bed and sit in various positions. She made sure to offer me a dose of pain medication at the exact time that I needed it most. Her planning and critical thinking were a tremendous help in getting me through until the end. These RNs are highly skilled at their work. They knew exactly what to do to make everything smooth and safe. They reacted quickly to a situation, and I know they saved a life. Lindsay said that she was here just for me, and this made me feel safe and cared for. These two amazing nurses will forever be ingrained in my mind because they are amazing at and absolutely love what they do, and it was so apparent during this very special time. I want to thank them with my whole heart. Words could never explain how incredibly grateful I am that they were there with me.
