Lacey was nominated by one of her peers for her ability to bring sunshine to an otherwise dreary hospital stay.
"One day I noticed that Lacey had brought a little matchbox truck to work and found out that she had brought if for a patient who had listed getting out of the hospital and buying a new truck as one of his goals." Later in the day I noticed the truck on the patient's tray and noted he was more content that day. This small demonstration of listening to what your patient says was so easy. Why didn't I think of that?"
Lacey was also nominated by one of our patients and here are a few of the comments she made in her nomination:
"I have never had a nurse so caring and so dedicated in my life. She was so incredibly passionate about her job and the care she gave me. She didn't make me feel like just another patient. I knew way before I left that I needed to find some way to make sure that everyone knew how amazing she was and is. This is not just a job for her and the world needs more nurses like Lacey Chapek."
