Laci returned from lunch to a Code Blue in process and immediately stepped in and stepped up and was an essential key component of the team during the need to push meds, obtain IV access, or labs.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the Dell Children's North Emergency Department team for their exemplary handling of two critically ill patients. Their professionalism and grace under pressure were truly commendable.
Firstly, I want to highlight the exceptional actions of Laci, who promptly identified a baby experiencing a critical status change, nearly on the verge of cardiac arrest. Laci swiftly opened the door, summoned the necessary assistance, and initiated immediate interventions to ensure the baby's safety, all while Dr. D was at the bedside. Her quick response likely prevented a cardiac crisis. Throughout this intense situation, Laci maintained a calm and composed demeanor, providing outstanding care to both the patient and their family. The entire team comprising Dr. D, J, S, R, and Dr. A, quickly rallied to stabilize the patient. Their coordinated efforts enabled Respiratory Therapist Fatim to administer the appropriate oxygen and facilitate stabilization. The team worked harmoniously, efficiently establishing an IV, placing the baby under a warmer, drawing labs, and preparing for transfer. Laci remained persistent and helped until NICU transport no longer needed her and was on its way with the patient.
That same night, Laci returned from lunch to a Code Blue in process and immediately stepped in and stepped up and was an essential key component of the team during the need to push meds, obtain IV access, or labs. I cannot express enough gratitude to Laci for her commitment to our patients and their families and her critical thinking skills that saved a life and made an impact on the nurses around her. Laci showcased a profound compassion and dedication to patient care during critical moments. It was an honor to stand alongside such a dedicated team member at Dell Children's North.
Note: This is Laci's 2nd DAISY Award!
